Gambia Agricultural Market Information System



The market information system started in the Gambia in 1985 by the mixed farming project under the ministry of Agriculture. The project was technically supported by USAID, Crops monitoring include local grown cereals, legumes and livestock products in the major markets across the country. The establishment of the Department of Planning and the market information system was integrated into a Mainstream Agriculture and thereafter CILSS continued to provide training and technical assistance to the system. In 2012, FAO hired an expert or Technical Assistant (TA) from Mali called Frances Kieta to improve the Market Information system under the TCP project.
